Political unrest. Civil disorder. Act of war.

These words are frequently found in the exclusion clauses of a travel insurance policy. And they’re hot topics in today’s news, whether about Ukraine, Syria or other places where people are traveling. Despite the frequent exclusions in travel policies, there is a solution: a Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) policy. A CFAR policy allows your clients to cancel for any arbitrary reason under the sun. If the decision is “it’s just too risky,” they can recoup up to 75 percent of the insured trip cost. The plan we recommend most often is Worldwide Trip Protector.

This plan is the best-priced out of all our plans that offer CFAR coverage. If you decide to cancel a trip for a reason not listed in the policy’s standard trip cancellation clause, then the policy returns up to 75 percent of the insured trip cost, no questions asked. Make sure you understand the eligibility rules for applying for a CFAR policy. They’re posted on our Worldwide Trip Protector quote page. Additional Highlights of Cancel for Any Reason Policies:

  • - There is an additional 50-percent premium per adult;
  • - A trip can be cancelled all the way up to 48 hours before departure, for up to 75 percent reimbursement of the - non-refundable trip cost;
  • - The policy must be purchased within 21 days of your initial trip deposit;
  • - If the trip has to be canceled because of an illness, injury, or other covered reason listed in the standard policy, it returns 100 percent of the insured trip cost.

When you are planning trips to destinations with political unrest, civil disorder and wars, make sure you protect yourselves with a CFAR policy.
